The restaurant will occupy units 3-7 Shires Yard, off Broad Street, and feature approximately 143 covers across a ground-floor dining room, private dining room and courtyard terrace, according to a planning application submitted to Bath & North East Somerset Council.
It is intended to trade from 12 until 11.30pm, seven days a week.
Henderson is the co-founder of London restaurant Rochelle Canteen, alongside business partner Melanie Arnold. The restaurant, which opened in Shoreditch in 2004, is known for its focus on British produce and traditional dishes with Mediterranean influences.
She and Wigram, an investor, gallery curator and antiques dealer, have also worked together on the Three Horseshoes in Batcombe, Somerset, a heritage property converted into a restaurant and rooms.
According to a statement from Shires Yard leaseholder Aston Cole, the Bath restaurant would emulate Rochelle Canteen’s ‘relaxed al fresco dining’ and ‘warm, unhurried hospitality’, delivering a dining experience of ‘equal calibre and renown’.
The interior design, by Joseph de Klee, will draw on Georgian references, with existing flooring retained and refinished and materials selected to age naturally. The plans also include replacing the existing courtyard glazing with stonework and sash windows designed to reflect the building’s Georgian character.
The site was previously occupied by Carluccio’s from 2012 to 2018, before Indian restaurant Bandook took over under the current landlord. Planning and listed building consent applications have been submitted for the alterations required to facilitate the new restaurant.
