James Lowe has made a return to the kitchens with a stint at Covent Garden restaurant TOWN.

The former Lyle’s chef is understood to be working at the restaurant for a few days a week for the next few months, helping develop new dishes.

He will also be involved with some guest chef and collaboration dinners that are being planned at the restaurant over the next few months.

TOWN, which opened on Drury Lane in April last year, is known for its British produce and ingredient-first cooking. Menu items include Welsh mutton tonnato with caperberries; Cornish bluefin tuna with smoked chilli, bergamot, and colatura di alici; and braised Shetland veal breast with coco beans, and salsa verde.

Lowe founded Lyle’s in 2014 and built it into one of London’s most influential restaurants before it closed in 2025. At the time Lowe said that he was preparing to launch a new solo project.
