The popular bakery had previously said it had been told it had become “too successful” for the London market and called on public support to retain its original bakery, which opened there in 2013.
In a statement the bakery says the lease has now been renewed and that its future at the market had been secured.
“We’ve come to an agreement with Borough Market regarding our lease,” it says. “In a nutshell, we won’t be leaving anytime soon. So plenty of road ahead to enjoy our bakes and come on a baking course. Roll on 2027!”
Bread Ahead founder Matthew Jones had previously said that the brand’s international growth has meant that it had become an unattractive proposition for the market. As well as locations in London, the bakery has operations in Dubai, Saudi Arabia, the US, Philippines, and Thailand.
“I honestly never imagined that being successful could put our home at risk,” Jones said.
Earlier this month Bread Ahead launched an owner-operator model in Harpenden. The new model is described as giving long-standing members of Bread Ahead’s team the opportunity to move into ownership, with a share in the success of their bakery.
The 2,500sq ft space combines a bakery, baking school and all-day dining venue.
