Balaji Hotels buys first UK property

Indian company Balaji Hotels has acquired its first UK-based property in Kettering, Northants, as part of plans to build a small portfolio in Britain.

The 41-en suite bedroom hotel, complete with 60-cover lounge bar, 40-cover cocktail bar and 60-cover restaurant, is the first UK property for Balaji Hotels and has recently undergone a refurbishment and modernisation programme.

Stewart Harkness from Christie and Co, who handled the sale, said: “There is huge potential to increase trade further by making the business the focal point of the town due to the amount of facilities it can offer not only to hotel guests but also the local community. We wish Balaji Hotels well with their first hotel venture in the UK, which is expected to be the first of many.”

The property also features a large ballroom, 180-capacity nightclub and a hairdressing salon that is let out on a management agreement.
