Sky News is reporting that one of Jamie Oliver’s main holding company has axed a fifth of its workforce.

According to the organisation, 25 of Jamie Oliver Group’s 126 staff have been made redundant.

The Jamie Oliver Group is primarily a media and brand business, with publishing, television and licensing at its core.

It is understood to oversee the chef’s international restaurant licensing deals and his Jamie Oliver Catherine Street restaurant, but it is not connected to the revival of Jamie’s Italian, which is set to make a comeback next year after collapsing in 2019.

As revealed earlier this month, Jamie’s Italian is returning to the UK high street following a partnership between the high-profile chef and Prezzo owner Brava Hospitality Group.

A spokeswoman confirmed to Sky News by email that “the consultation [process] is complete” and confirmed the number of staff affected, but declined to answer further questions.

In October, the Jamie Oliver Group’s most recent financial results for 2023–24 showed turnover increased slightly, while pre-tax profit fell from £3.3m to £2.4m.

Jamie’s Italian is due to open a restaurant in London’s Leicester Square next spring.
