London’s Ikoyi has been named Best Global Restaurant in the 2026 Global Tastemakers Awards by Food & Wine.

The annual awards are compiled from recommendations by a global network of chefs, travel experts and wine professionals and are vetted by Food & Wine’s editors.

They are intended to recognise standout restaurants and culinary destinations shaping food-focused travel worldwide.

Ikoyi, led by chef Jeremy Chan and Iré Hassan Odukale, is known for its ‘spice-based cuisine’ built around British micro-seasonality.

The kitchen focuses on slowly grown vegetables for flavour, sustainable line-caught fish and aged native beef, using a wide-ranging collection of globally sourced spices.

Ikoyi was founded in 2017 by chef Jeremy Chan and his school friend Iré Hassan Odukale.

Initially billed as a Nigerian restaurant, the venture had a bumpy start, but things picked up when the duo went tasting menu-only and won their first Michelin star.

In 2022, the restaurant was awarded its second star before moving sites in 2023 from a small venue in St James’s Market to a much larger space within 180 The Strand.

Other restaurants featured in the top 10 Best Global Restaurants include Roscioli in Rome, Italy, at number eight; Potong in Bangkok, Thailand, at fifth; and the runner-up, Maido, in Lima, Peru.

London was also voted runner-up (to Hong Kong) in the best global cities for food and drink.
