Wine bar and restaurant group Humble Grape will open a new site in Smithfield next month, taking its total number of London venues to seven.

The launch comes six months after the opening of Humble Grape Bow Lane, also in the City, and marks what the group describes as “continued momentum” for the fast-growing hospitality brand.

Located next to Smithfield Market - which is currently undergoing redevelopment - the new venue will seat 40 covers.

A semi-private dining area at the front of the site is under consideration, while plans for an outdoor terrace are awaiting approval.

Since launching in 2009, Humble Grape has built a reputation as London’s only wine bar group importing its wines directly, with a list of more than 500 bottles sourced from 26 countries.

The group specialises in organic, biodynamic and low-intervention wines from small, family-run vineyards, and says its direct-import model helps keep pricing accessible.

“Smithfield feels like a natural next step for Humble Grape,” says CEO James Dawson.

“It’s one of London’s most vibrant areas right now, rich in history, culture and character, and we’re thrilled to become part of that evolving community.”
