Private members’ club business Estelle Community has launched its first public restaurant.

Located on the former site of Beach Blanket Babylon on Ledbury Road in Notting Hill, Celeste is an all-day Italian-American restaurant on the ground floor of the group’s recently launched second London private members’ club.

The concept brings together seasonal cooking, an extensive wine list and what the company describes as a relaxed Californian spirit.

The project is not to be confused with Céleste at The Lanesborough, which launched at the five star Knightsbridge hotel in 2015 and won a Michelin star.

It closed in 2022 shortly after losing its star with the grand space now home to The Lanesborough Grill.

The menu at Celeste features dishes including Atlantic bluefin tuna crudo with San Marzano tomato salsa, stracciatella and basil; thin-crust diavola pizzette with ‘nduja, soppressata, smoked scamorza and honey; polpette al sugo with tomato, Parmesan and grilled focaccia; and pappardelle with braised Herdwick lamb ragù and white onion.

The restaurans is also open for breakfast, serving dishes such as chia seeds with Granny Smith apple and coconut milk, alongside benedict rösti with poached eggs, pancetta arrotolata and hollandaise.

The wine list spans more than 1,000 bottles, with more than 200 available by the glass.

Described as “warm, layered and lived in”, the restaurant features a hand-painted mural inspired by celestial themes, a courtyard centred around an 18th-century stone fireplace, velvet sofas, Persian rugs and abundant greenery.

The opening follows the success of Estelle Manor in Oxfordshire and Maison Estelle in Mayfair, both of which are members-only venues.

Sharan Pasricha, founder and CEO of Estelle Community, said: “With Celeste, we wanted to create somewhere that fits naturally into people’s lives – a place where you can stop by for a coffee, meet friends for lunch, open a bottle of wine that turns into dinner, or simply spend time together.

“Guests might arrive separately, but by the end they’re likely sharing stories around the same table. That is really what Celeste is about – a place for people to relax, connect and enjoy being together.”
