The Belgravia restaurant is listed as permanently closed on Google and its website is no longer accepting bookings.
Documents filed with Companies House show that Zafferano Restaurants Limited submitted a notice for the appointment of a voluntary liquidator last year.
The restaurant - which is within Halkin Arcade on Lowndes Street - continued trading into 2026, having posted on its Instagram account as recently as April.
Zafferano was launched in 1995 by high-profile restaurateur Claudio Pulze, who backed the venture through his company A-Z Restaurants and installed Giorgio Locatelli as head chef.
It soon became one of London’s most respected Italian restaurants, winning a Michelin star in 1999, which it retained for more than a decade.
Locatelli parted ways with the restaurant in 2001 following a disagreement with management.
In its later years, Zafferano traded as an upscale trattoria while continuing to reference its heritage by serving signature dishes from its early days, including ravioli of osso buco and its eponymous saffron risotto.
Zafferano has been contacted for comment.
