Announcing the news on Instagram , the pair say that ‘Island is heading to a brand-new home in London’ but a location has yet to be revealed.
Its final service at the King’s Cross site will be a Sunday roast on 16 August, which the restaurant said would be a ‘proper send-off’ for the venue.
Island opened at Mare Street Market in June last year. During its time there, the restaurant said it had hosted Sunday roasts, sold-out weekends and ‘more good nights than we can count’.
In the post the restaurant thanked Mare Street Market for ‘being our home this past year’ and for sharing what it described as one of the best communities in London.
Island is a surf and turf restaurant focused on British produce, with a menu featuring organic meats, wild fish and seasonal ingredients.
Starter dishes include grilled shawarma prawns and steak tartare with prawn crackers, followed by surf options such as seabass with peppercorn sauce; and mussels with curry sauce. Turf options feature Island mixed grill; and piri piri chicken with crab sauce. Desserts include chocolate fudge layer cake and fried rhubarb pie with tonka bean custard.
The post concluded that announcements about the new home, opening dates and bookings will follow soon on its social media.
