MACCHINA will officially open on 19 August at Hometipple on Orford Road, following a refurbishment of the site that will increase capacity to 60 covers and introduce a 1990s Italian-inspired interior.
The restaurant will serve Italian food inspired by Sicilian flavours, with dishes including arancini al ragu, chicken Milanese Caesar salad, pasta al pomodoro with stracciatella, porchetta with greens and roast potatoes and for dessert tiramisu.
A new cocktail list will accompany Hometipple’s wine selection, including a marsala negroni, limoncello spritz and Lambrusco spritz.
“I couldn’t be more excited to make MACCHINA permanent here in Walthamstow,” says Hayley Meredith, founder and head chef of MACCHINA.
I’ve always wanted to create the kind of restaurant where you can come for a long lunch, stay for another bottle, eat really good food and feel properly looked after.”
Hometipple opened in Walthamstow Village in 2023 as a wine shop and bar. It has since hosted a programme of chefs and kitchen residencies alongside its wine offering.
Following the opening of MACCHINA, Hometipple will continue to operate its independent wine shop and bar, with wines available to drink alongside dinner or take away.
Mikey Studer, founder of Hometipple, adds: “MACCHINA has brought its own energy and identity to the space, and making it permanent means we can finally bring the food, wine, music and atmosphere together as one restaurant.”
Meredith previously ran Pasta Slut, an Anglo-Sicilian pop-up and supper club, which, after eight years of residencies and events across London, Bristol, Margate and beyond, the project evolved in 2026 into MACCHINA.
