New concept Dylan’s Philly Cheesesteaks has opened at STACK Newcastle marking the multipurpose leisure venue’s first Philly cheesesteak venture.

The brand has been created by chef Carl ‘Mitch’ Mitchinson, who has returned to the Northeast after working in kitchens across the UK, including a stint at Gordon Ramsay Restaurants.

The menu at Dylan’s, named after Mitchinson’s son, will include the ‘OG’ Philly Cheese, made with shaved ribeye steak, caramelised onions, Swiss cheese, cheese ‘wiz’ sauce and crispy onions; and The Spicy Philly, made with spicy cheese, chilli flakes, jalapeños and Frank’s hot sauce. There will also be a chicken Philly, as well as loaded fries, sides and dips.

The business will use local suppliers, with its bread made fresh each day and rare-breed English beef used for the cheesesteaks.

Mitchinson previously ran a number of smokehouses and after seeing Philly cheesesteak become a best-seller, decided to develop a standalone business focused on the dish.

“We had no hesitation in choosing STACK Newcastle as our first venue,” says Mitchinson.

“We know we will be alongside other quality brands in a place with a great atmosphere which expects the highest quality.”

Gemma Dishman, director of strategy and development at STACK adds: “We are delighted that Mitch has returned to the Northeast and is opening his first outlet at STACK Newcastle.

“Supporting local people and entrepreneurs is very important to us, as is ensuring that our visitors have a memorable and unique experience when they come to STACK.

“We are very excited to welcome Dylan’s Philly Cheesesteak to the STACK family.”
