Located on Lower Goat Lane, the restaurant occupies the former Biddy’s Tea Room site, which closed in December 2024 and is built around an open kitchen and counter seating, with a private dining room on the ground floor for up to 10 guests.
The Northwic offers two tasting menus: a five-course menu priced at £75, with wine pairing available for an additional £55, and the £95 ‘Full Send’ menu, with pairing for a further £75.
The latter is described on the restaurant’s website as offering ‘more courses, maximum fun, more of what we are about’. Sample dishes include Szechuan pork; scallop with lime and chilli; hake with celeriac and truffle; venison with beetroot and cauliflower; and yuzu raspberry.
Nichols, who also appeared on Great British Menu in 2024, has worked at two Michelin-starred restaurants Midsummer House and Restaurant Sat Bains, as well as at Tom Kerridge’s Bar and Grill.
He joined Store when it launched in 2021 and left in August 2024 to go travelling around Southeast Asia with his partner Becca. The restaurant subsequently closed.
Nichols first announced plans to launch The Northwic in July this year.
“I can’t quite believe I’ve bought a restaurant,” said Nichols at the time of the announcement.
“It’s going to be fun and it’s going to be good.”
