London-based Napoli on the Road, founded by Michele Pascarella, has been named the World’s Best Pizzeria at the 50 Top Pizza World Awards in Naples.

The ceremony took place at Teatro Mercadante in Naples and marked the latest recognition for the London-based pizzeria group, which has placed among the world’s top five pizzerias since 2024. Pascarella was previously named Pizza Maker of the Year at the 50 Top Pizza World Awards in 2023.

Napoli on the Road was founded in 2016 by Pascarella, who moved to the UK from Maddaloni, near Naples, at the age of 19. He began the business from a three-wheeled Ape Piaggio van fitted with a wood-fired oven, serving pizzas at farmers’ markets and outdoor events across London. The business has since expanded into restaurants in Chiswick and Richmond, where Pascarella has become ‘widely recognised’ for his high-crust Neapolitan-style pizza.

In February, Napoli on the Road opened its third site in Soho. The restaurant is home to the brand’s pizza tasting menu, which serves a selection of Pascarella’s pizzas across multiple courses and draws on his childhood and Italian heritage.

“Such high recognition from Top 50 Pizza is a once-in-a-lifetime experience,” says Pascarella.

“This award is the culmination of hard work over many years, from starting small in an Ape Piaggio to now running three restaurants across London.

“I share this award with my teams in Chiswick, Richmond and Soho, who share my commitment and passion for great pizza every day.”

The 50 Top Pizza World Award adds to a series of accolades for Pascarella and Napoli on the Road. The group was ranked first in the 50 Top Pizza Europa awards for three consecutive years, from 2024 to 2026. Pascarella was also named Best International Pizza Maker 2024 by the Accademia Nazionale Pizza DOC. In 2026, his signature pizza, ‘Ricordi d’Infanzia’, was named Pizza of the Year.
