The Dover founder Martin Kuczmarski will bring his more casual Counter concept to Chelsea later this month.

Located on Cadogan Gardens, close to King’s Road, Chelsea Counter follows the success of Dover Street Counter in Mayfair, which launched in late 2025 following the runaway success of Kuczmarski’s nearby The Dover restaurant.

Inspired by the energy of late-1950s Los Angeles counter dining, Chelsea Counter is billed as a refreshed take on the classic neighbourhood hangout.

Designed for impromptu dinners and drinks that spill into the late hours, it will bring the relaxed and understated energy of Dover Street Counter to Chelsea.

The food offering will centre on a globally inspired menu, with snacks such as purple potato crisps with San Marzano tomato salsa and buttermilk fried chicken with hot honey and sesame, alongside comforting favourites including a four-cheese toastie, French dip and cheeseburger.

Soups and salads will sit alongside a broader selection of mains, from spaghetti all’assassina and spicy baked baby chicken to slow-cooked short rib with fries, grilled salmon and half lobster with herbed garlic butter.

The drinks list will feature an extensive standalone section of margaritas, including pineapple and lychee variations alongside Tommy’s and spicy versions.

Music will also play a big part in the space, with a ’90s R&B and soul soundtrack setting the tone from day into night.

Chelsea Counter will open daily from midday until midnight.

Kuczmarski is the former chief operating officer of Soho House Group, where he worked alongside founder Nick Jones for a decade and a half.

When he joined, the members’ club group had just four properties; when he left in 2022, it had more than 60 worldwide.

The Dover was his debut solo restaurant, bringing “old-school hospitality and glamour to Mayfair”.

The New York Italian restaurant and bar occupies the Dover Street site that was once home to American brasserie Automat and, more recently, neighbourhood restaurant Moncks.

Its menu channels the food of a Brooklyn Italian restaurant through a Mayfair lens, with dishes including spaghetti meatballs, chicken cordon bleu and lobster ravioli.

Kuczmarski expanded into Chelsea late last year with Martino’s, an all-day Italian restaurant and bar on Sloane Square.

Inspired by the Italian trattorias of the 1950s and ’60s, Martino’s opens seven days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
