The independent restaurant will serve its final guests on 14 November, marking the end of three years of fire-led cooking at the Clear Water Way restaurant.
Founded by hospitality operators Benito and Sophie Martinez, Bodega serves Mediterranean food as well as a list of 50 wines by the glass, one of largest selection in Wales.
The decision to close follows careful consideration by the duo, who say the increasingly challenging environment for independent hospitality businesses has made the current operation difficult to sustain.
While the restaurant will close its doors, the Bodega brand is set to continue, with several festival appearances already booked for 2027 and its owners open to exploring future opportunities for the concept.
In the meantime they will focus their efforts on their other businesses within Fire & Wine Group, including The Priory in Caerleon (pictured below) and Park Side Kitchen and Bakery, located next door to the existing Bodega site.
“Making the decision to close Bodega has been incredibly difficult. We’ve poured so much passion and energy into creating something that we genuinely love, and we’re enormously proud of what the restaurant and its team have achieved over the past three years,” they say.
“Bodega was born from our love of cooking over fire, brilliant wine and genuine hospitality. We’ve had the pleasure of welcoming so many wonderful guests, sharing some exceptional food and wine, and creating experiences that we’ll remember for a very long time.
“Like many independent hospitality businesses, we’re operating in an increasingly challenging environment, and we’ve had to make some difficult decisions about where to focus our energy and investment.”
Bodega’s kitchen team will joining the team at the group’s hotel and restaurant venue The Priory.
