Gordon Ramsay has partnered with his Gordon Ramsay Holdings corporate executive US chef Andi Van Willigan to launch The Fat Cow, set to open this summer in Los Angeles.

In what is Ramsay and Van Willigan’s first joint venture, the neighbourhood-style restaurant will open in the Grove shopping centre, catering for over 200 covers and offering European-inspired cuisine. Ramsay had trademarked The Fat Cow brand name for the mid-market steak concept last year.

“We’re really excited to bring this concept to life, a place where people can just relax and enjoy a delicious European inspired meal,” said Ramsay.

Van Willigan added: “Gordon has been an incredible mentor, so to now have the opportunity to partner on this restaurant with such a creative culinary concept is really exciting.”

The Fat Cow’s family-inspired dining concept will be emphasized with a rotating roaster, house-cured meats, local cheeses, daily-inspired dishes from the farmers market, as well as an in-house pastry chef offering selections of classic American home desserts with a British pub flare.

The interiors will be developed by AK Design Network and architects Gold Grenade.

Hell’s Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares

Van Willigan was responsible for keeping the teams and restaurants on-task and performing up to Ramsay’s standards as his sous chef on TV shows Hell’s Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares. She also oversees all of Ramsay’s other new US restaurants.

Ramsay’s latest venture follows the news earlier this year that he is to open his first restaurant in Las Vegas this spring. Last month, the celebrity chef revealed that he was ‘saddened’ over a decision by the owner of Laurier Gordon Ramsay in Canada to remove his association with the business.
