Modern Chinese restaurant brand Tattu will open a floating restaurant in Canary Wharf this winter, marking its second London location.

Owner Permanently Unique Group has taken the space that was previously home to French brasserie Marceline, which closed earlier this year after less than two years.

The announcement of a second Tattu in the capital follows a period of rapid growth for owner Permanently Unique Group, which made its debut in Dubai early this year and last month brought its Greek concept FENIX to Mayfair.

It is also understood to also be bringing its Italian-American brand Louis to the capital.

The Canary Wharf site will be led by global executive chef Eugene Papadimitriou, who trained at Le Cordon Bleu and rose through the ranks within Tattu, and will serve a fusion menu of Japanese and Chinese techniques.

He is joined by chef de cuisine David Pang, who brings more than two decades of international experience, including senior roles at Rosewood and Hakkasan.

The restaurant’s design has been developed by Studio WYZE and draws on the heritage of historic floating restaurants in China. The exterior will feature illuminated lanterns and neon signage reflected across the surrounding water.

Inside, the space will be divided into four distinct areas inspired by maritime mythology. The main dining area, the Grand Hall, represents the White Dragon and features a double-height layout with light timber finishes, purple lacquer and an onyx sushi counter.

Adjacent to this, the Red Dragon cocktail bar will be characterised by dragon-scale arches and ribbed red wall coverings.

An upper-level Black Dragon mezzanine will provide a more intimate setting with ebony and gold tones, while the Azure Dragon private dining room will include an undulating ceiling designed to evoke both scales and flowing water.

Tattu was founded in Manchester in 2015 by brothers Adam Jones and Drew Jones. The brand made its London debut in spring 2022 with a site on the rooftop of the new The Now Building in the Outernet development.

Further details for the Canary Wharf restaurant, including an official opening date, are expected to be announced soon.
