Sant Ffraed House says the appointment forms part of a ‘new chapter’ for the venue, with new menus covering traditional dining, feasting, street food and more informal styles of cooking.
Announcing the news on Facebook, Sant Ffraed House says: ‘This is no ordinary appointment.’
The venue described Terry as having ‘Michelin-starred pedigree’ and experience in ‘some of the most respected kitchens in British and European food’.
Terry ran The Hardwick with his wife Joanna for 18 years after the couple took over the former Horse and Jockey pub in 2005.
The Hardwick went on to receive a number of awards, including Gastropub of the Year at the National Restaurant Awards in 2010. It was also ranked 20th in the Top 50 Gastropubs list in 2022.
The restaurant closed three years ago after it was discovered that its former administrator, Nicola Nightingale, had defrauded the business of £150,000 with the help of her husband.
Before opening The Hardwick, Terry worked at Harvey’s under Marco Pierre White and later at Le Gavroche under Michel Roux Jr. He subsequently returned to London, where he earned his first Michelin star at the age of 25.
Terry has also appeared on television programmes, including James Martin’s Saturday Morning and Great British Menu.
