A new neighbourhood pasta bar is set to open on Abbeville Road in Clapham, following the closure of Adam Byatt’s Bistro Union after nearly 15 years.

Adelia will be a 60-cover restaurant at 40 Abbeville Road, London, and the first restaurant from the newly established hospitality group Mamie Collective. The restaurant is set to open this year, according to an announcement shared by Best of Clapham on Instagram.

The project is led by founder Thomas Texido, whose experience includes time at Big Mamma Group and MJMK Restaurants. In a LinkedIn post, Texido confirmed that he had left MJMK and signed the lease on his first restaurant shortly afterwards.

His stated vision is to create neighbourhood restaurants centred on generous food, warm hospitality and an atmosphere inspired by visiting a grandmother’s home.

The LinkedIn post also revealed Adelia will operate without a service charge. Instead, the restaurant plans to pay staff a base wage, with card tips providing an additional reward for service.

Recruitment for the restaurant’s founding team is already under way, the post said.

Bistro Union opened in 2012 and was located a short walk from Byatt’s flagship, Trinity, which he opened in 2006. Bistro Union had a more casual offer to Trinity, serving a menu of British dishes.
