- Jamie Oliver has spoken of his sadness at the closure of Fifteen London and vowed to resurrect the project in another form. The non-profit restaurant, which ran apprenticeships for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, closed when the chef's wider group fell in to administration in May.
- The Eleven Madison Park team's London restaurant will still open at Claridge's this autumn despite the pair announcing their high-profile partnership will end this summer. Chef Daniel Humm will continue to oversee the project, while front of house maestro Will Guidara is no longer involved.
- Gujarati food and craft beer restaurant group Bundobust is to open a second site in Manchester complete with an in-house brewery. Bundobust has secured a 4,000 sq ft site that will have space for 120-140 covers and nine brewing vessels capable of producing 28,500 pints of beer a month.
- Corbin & King is to close its French restaurant Bellanger, in Islington, four years after it was launched. The company says the site's critical success "wasn't matched financially". It also confirmed it has secured a new restaurant site in Notting Hill Gate.
- The Mayfair restaurant empire owned by tycoon Marlon Abela has come under fresh scrutiny after auditors raised a red flag over its accounts. Filings for the year to 31 December 2017 show Marc Ltd, which includes The Square and Umu, made a £5.8m loss. Accountancy firm Haysmacintyre says it was not provided with "sufficient" evidence to give an opinion on the results.
