The Beckford Group, known for its collection of pubs and restaurants, is set to open its first hotel in June.

Teffont House, which will open in Wiltshire’s Nadder Valley, will house the Orangery, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner celebrating West Country produce.

Inspired by the group’s Bath-based restaurant – The Beckford Canteen – the Orangery will reflect the seasons using local produce, taking a ‘playfully nostalgic look’ at classic dishes.

The project was announced last year as part of the group’s continued expansion across the southwest of England.

Overseen by group chef Adam Bristow, the menu is expected to change regularly, with sample dishes including gentleman’s relish and soldiers; oyster mushroom tart with Osmington cream and chives; hogget chop with sticky belly, pea, cavolo nero and mint; and chocolate marchioness with strawberry curd, strawberry and basil.

Inspired by two of the Beckford Group owners’ Australian heritage, the team also plan to serve ‘jaffles’ (cheese toasties) in the afternoons with a good cup of tea.

The wine list will draw inspiration from the group’s Bath-based Beckford Bottle Shop, with plans to create a bespoke Beckford Bordeaux selection.

A classic and concise cocktail list will be available all day, with a menu of ‘night caps’ for after hours.

The restaurant will have space for around 40 covers inside with a further 40 seats on the outside terrace and aims to cater to both guests at the hotel alongside local residents. Also included within the grounds across the lane from the main house in a walled garden will be the Chicken Shed – an outdoor drink and pop-up dining space alongside an area for badminton and a newly installed croquet court.

Guests will also be able to attend family-style feasts in the Tack Room, an additional private dining space to the rear of the hotel in the old stable yard.

The hotel itself will be set in a stone building dating back to 1623, with 17 rooms as well as the neighbouring coach house and cottage within the grounds.

Founded by Dan Brod, Charlie Luxton, and Matt Greenlees, Beckford Hospitality Group recently acquired The Bradley Hare Inn in Wiltshire, which brought the group’s portfolio in the southwest to six sites.

The group is also planning to open two further ventures: Corsham House – a British brasserie with rooms and a bottle shop – due to open in July, and pub The King’s Arms, which is expected to open in September.

The Beckford Group’s existing sites include The Bradley Hare Inn, The Beckford Arms, The Bath Arms, The Talbot Inn, The Lord Poulett Arms, The Beckford Bottle Shop and The Beckford Canteen.
