Located at 118-120 Shaftesbury Avenue, the 2,600 sq ft venue will serve a range of fresh fruit teas, milk teas and matcha-based drinks.
The brand will join a growing roster of modern tea operators in Chinatown, including Happy Lemon, Tsujiri and Woo Tea.
Founded in 2012 in Jiangmen, Guangdong Province, HEYTEA became known for its signature whipped cheese-foam topping served with freshly brewed tea, helping to pioneer China’s ‘new-style tea’ trend.
The business has since expanded into a successful international franchise, with locations across Asia as well as in Australia and Canada.
Landlord Shaftesbury Capital said the arrival of HEYTEA, alongside recent openings Arôme Bakery and Kawan by Uncle Roger, underlines Chinatown’s position as a destination for ‘on-trend’ East and South East Asian food and drink concepts.
“Chinatown London’s reputation as the go-to destination for an authentic East and South East Asian food and beverage line-up is incredibly important. It means potential new brands and restaurateurs understand what we’re looking for, while visitors are spoilt for choice,” says Emma Matus, head of restaurant leasing at Shaftesbury Capital.
“The additions of HEYTEA, Arôme and Kawan by Uncle Roger reflect our drive to balance the offer with both heritage and trend-led concepts, while supporting new formats, debut locations and entrepreneurs that know what resonates with our visitors.”
