Opening on Warwick Street on 13 July, Miokuru will be a fast-paced counter restaurant bringing hand rolls, seafood and ‘Tokyo energy’ to the capital.
The 20-cover restaurant, named after the Japanese terms ‘to send someone off on a journey’, will focus on seafood, with the menu to include dishes such as pressed scallops; seasonal house pickles and seared Chalkstream trout sashimi.
There will also be a selection of made to order handrolls, such as Cornish white crab with wild garlic mayo; dry–aged beef tartare with wasabi mustard and herbs; and wild glazed and pickled mushrooms.
To finish will be a seasonal sorbet topped with scorched meringue.

For drinks, there will be premium London-brewed sake, and a selection of Japanese-inspired serves, including one-off, rotating batches of keg sake, as well as natural wines and London brewed beers.
The restaurant design centres on an open kitchen and an intimate counter dining experience, with additional bar seating that can transform into a private dining area for up to 10 guests.
“Some of the island’s best seafood, paired with rice, nori and handed to you just as it should be - simple, fresh and straight into your hands,” says founder Eliott Grabli.
Miokuru will join a number of new Soho restaurants serving handrolls as popularity for the style of food grows. Modern Japanese handroll restaurant Kumori, founded by Marc Flekei, open its first permanent restaurant on Denman Street in April, and the team behind Milk Beach is opening Saltwater on Berwick Street, serving handrolls alongside nigiri and hot donburi bowls.
