Chef Danielle Heron and Sofie Stoermann-Naess are bringing OSMA back to Manchester after securing a site in the city’s Northern Quarter.

OSMA launched in Prestwich, around three miles from central Manchester, in 2020 and quickly gained a strong reputation. Heron subsequently reached the finals of both MasterChef: The Professionals and Great British Menu.

The restaurant closed in early 2025, with the pair announcing plans to relocate to a city-centre site.

Slated to open this autumn at One Port Street, the new venture will also include a neighbouring grocer and provisions store called Boutikk.

OSMA – a portmanteau of Oslo and Manchester – combines the influences of Stoermann-Naess’ Norwegian upbringing with Heron’s classical culinary training.

The menu will build on the food offering that established OSMA’s reputation in Prestwich.

Guests can expect fresh seafood, local meats, seasonal vegetable dishes and the return of some of the restaurant’s most popular dishes, all “rooted in a commitment to exceptional produce and ingredient-led cooking”.

OSMA’s popular Sunday roast offering is also set to return.

While Heron oversees the kitchen, Stoermann-Naess will lead the front-of-house operation and Boutikk, which will offer seasonally sourced vegetables, dairy, fruit, and a fresh meat and fish counter. Chefs will also be on hand to advise customers on product selection, recipes and cooking techniques.

The store will feature freshly baked Scandinavian-style breads, inspired by the food culture and shopping traditions of Stoermann-Naess’ native Oslo.

Speaking about the reopening, the pair said: “We’re so delighted to be reopening OSMA. We’ve missed it every day and bringing the restaurant back to such a vibrant part of the city centre is beyond exciting. We will miss our community in Prestwich, but we’re only a couple of miles down the road.

“Bringing a shop like Boutikk to Manchester has been a dream for such a long time. We feel there is a need and a demand for this kind of produce in the city centre, so when it became apparent that we could create something alongside OSMA, we jumped at the chance.”

Adam Price of One Port Street developer Select Property added: “OSMA has made a remarkable impact on Greater Manchester’s dining scene in a short space of time and we’re proud to be partnering with the team on this exciting new chapter.

“Their new home at One Port Street is a natural fit. We share a commitment to community, quality and creativity, and this collaboration reflects our ambition to bring something truly fresh and inspiring to the Northern Quarter.”
