Led by culinary director Endo Kazutoshi, the new restaurant will be located on Marylebone’s Devonshire Street and will open later this year.
SUMI was launched in London’s Westbourne Grove in Notting Hill in 2021 as a more informal alternative to Kazutoshi’s high-end restaurant at the Rotunda in White City. It serves a range of nigiri and temaki as well as a small selection of dishes cooked on a robata grill.
A year later the restaurant expanded its premises by extending into the neighbouring site, increasing the number of covers from 45 to 61.

“We have been looking for the perfect location for SUMI’s second site for some time, and Marylebone feels exactly right - we truly love the area and everything about its unique character and community,” says Milena Floyd, managing director at Creative Restaurant Group
“Notting Hill remains our much-loved home, but we are very excited to bring our neighbourhood Japanese concept to this wonderful new setting.”
Creative Restaurant Group operates a number of restaurants in the capital, including Kioku by Endo and the recently opened IGNI, led by former Cycene head chef Theon Clench.
It recently sold its Japanese restaurant NIJŪ in Mayfair to investment group DMIG.
