Claude Bosi’s return to Michelin House and Asador Etxebarri being named The World’s Best Restaurant were among this week’s most-read stories.

- Claude Bosi is to close his two Michelin-starred restaurant at The Peninsula London ahead of a return to Michelin House for a new project. Brooklands by Claude Bosi, located atop the five star hotel, will close in January 2027 after three years in operation with Bosi due to open a new project at the Bibendum building that was once home to his two-Michelin starred restaurant Claude Bosi at Bibendum.

- Asador Etxebarri in Atxondo in Spain has been named The World’s Best Restaurant 2026 after almost 20 years on the prestigious list. Led by chef-owner Victor Arguinzoniz, the Basque restaurant is renowned for its wood-fire cooking, serving a 14-course tasting menu of ‘dishes that allow high-quality ingredients to take centre stage, elevating simple produce into extraordinary masterpieces through the mastery of the grill’.

- Brands including Hawksmoor, The Ivy Collection, Flat Iron and Mission Mars were among the winners at the R200 Awards 2026. The annual awards, created by Restaurant, celebrate excellence in the hospitality sector and are voted for by industry professionals.

- The team behind Fire & Wine Group will close their Cardiff restaurant Bodega next week. The independent restaurant will serve its final guests on 14 November, marking the end of three years of fire-led cooking at the Clear Water Way restaurant. Founded by hospitality operators Benito and Sophie Martinez, Bodega serves Mediterranean food as well as a list of 50 wines by the glass, one of largest selection in Wales. The decision to close follows careful consideration by the duo, who say the increasingly challenging environment for independent hospitality businesses has made the current operation difficult to sustain.

- Britain’s oldest Indian restaurant has gone to court as it fights to remain in the West End premises it has occupied for 100 years. The hearing follows the postponement of a five-day hearing that had been due to begin at Central London County Court on 29 June. The Michelin-starred restaurant has continued to trade at Victory House, near Piccadilly Circus, since its £205,000-a-year lease expired last summer after the Crown Estate declined to renew it.
