The collaboration will see Cultar – which is behind the Michelin-starred Cail Bruich and a number of other Glasgow venues - work across The Village at Machrihanish Dunes’ restaurants and hospitality spaces, including the resort’s Kintyre Restaurant and Old Clubhouse Pub, with a focus on developing menus.
The project is being led by Cultar founders Paul Charalambous and Chris Charalambous, alongside Rachel Taylor, Cultar’s digital content and marketing co-ordinator, who will oversee marketing and customer experience.
Under Cultar’s guidance, the menus will be centred around elevated comfort dishes that honour Scottish culinary traditions, while being presented through a ‘contemporary lens’.
As part of the supply strategy, Cultar will incorporate established suppliers such as Campbells Prime Meats, alongside producers from across the Kintyre region. These include seafood from Kintyre Smokehouse, shellfish from Loch Fyne, oysters from Cumbrae, and venison sourced from Skipness.
The resort’s hospitality service model will also be reviewed under the partnership, with an emphasis on warm, consistent, and authentic Scottish hospitality.
“We are absolutely delighted to be involved in the food and beverage operation at Machrihanish Dunes,” says Paul Charalambous.
“As long-time admirers of the exceptional golfing experience on the Kintyre peninsula, we recognise the unique opportunity to complement these world-class facilities with an elevated dining offering.
“Our ambition is to enhance the overall guest experience and create something truly memorable that reflects the quality of the destination.
“We very much hope this marks the beginning of a long-term and fruitful partnership - one that helps put Kintyre firmly on the culinary map.”
Ian Ferguson, resort director at Machrihanish Dunes, adds: “Machrihanish Dunes has always been committed to creating unforgettable experiences for our guests, and this partnership with the Cultar Group represents an exciting evolution of that vision.
“Together, we are combining extraordinary surroundings with outstanding food, genuine hospitality, and a true sense of Scottish warmth.”
Cultar Restaurant Group, which was founded in 2006, is a collective of seasonally focused restaurants based in Glasgow.
The group’s portfolio includes the Michelin-starred Cail Bruich in Glasgow’s West End; Brett, a modern European restaurant in Kelvinbridge; The Clarence in Hyndland’s; and The Caravan Shop, a wine bar and bottle shop in Glasgow’s West End.
The Village at Machrihanish Dunes Resort is a coastal resort in the Kintyre region offering golf, accommodation, casual and fine dining, and spa facilities. Accommodation is provided through the Ugadale Hotel & Cottages and the Royal Hotel Campbeltown, which overlooks Campbeltown Harbour. A relaunch of the Harbourview Grille at the Royal Hotel is expected in late 2026.
