Bloomsbury bound: Bancone is opening a restaurant within The Imperial Hotel

Bancone, the London pasta specialist, will launch a restaurant at The Imperial hotel in Bloomsbury this August, bringing its total number of sites in the capital to six.

The 140-cover restaurant will be the brand’s first hotel opening and will feature a bar area alongside an open pasta kitchen.

There will also be a 60-seat terrace for al fresco dining in warmer months.

Menu options will include the brand’s signiture silk handkerchiefs with walnut butter and confit egg yolk.

There will also be a take on the dish that sees the addition of crispy guanciale.

Other dishes will include spicy pork and ’nduja ragù with tagliatelle; bucatini cacio e pepe; and Herdwick hogget pappardelle with soy, Thai basil and chilli.

The 357-room hotel blends mid-century modern interiors with striking modernist architecture and will open shortly before Bancone in early August, following a “once in a generation” refurbishment.

It will also feature a rooftop bar and restaurant called Arcus.

Launched by William Ellner and David Ramsey, Bancone is part of the growing pasta restaurant sector in the UK, opening its first site in 2018 on William IV Street in Covent Garden.

This was followed by restaurants in Soho’s Golden Square, Borough Yards, Covent Garden, Kensington, and the City.

Its rivals include Emilia’s Crafted Pasta, Lina Stores and Padella.
