A former 17th century monastery turned luxury hotel is launching a new restaurant this week.

Stanbrooke Abbey in Worcestershire will officially open Sister Charlotte’s restaurant on 4 February.

The abbey dates back to the 1625 and was the former home of a closed order of Benedictine Nuns.

Dishes have been inspired by the local area and are set to include the Burford Brown Hens Egg - a deep fried egg, crisp chorizo and mushroom crunch sourced from a nearby village - and a Chantilly de chevre Cheesecake.

Martin Page, general manager at Stanbrook Abbey Hotel, said the restaurant would ‘exceed expectations’.

“I’m looking forward to really creating a special offering here in Worcestershire where people enjoy something new and different that they cannot find anywhere else in the region,” he said.

“The building itself is a local landmark, and somewhere local people hold dear in their hearts. We look forward to welcoming them in for a taster of Sister Charlotte’s as we are sure the restaurant and the locally inspired – and sourced – menu, too will become synonymous with the local area.”

The abbey re-opened last year as a 52-room hotel following a two-year multi-million pound refurbishment.

It forms part of the AmaZing Venues hotel portfolio which includes converted sea forts off the coast of Portsmouth.
