Online food channel Twisted is to set up a film studio within Market Halls’ new West End venue when it opens early next month.

The Twisted Studio will be used by the channel to record a new series, which will feature a face-to-camera format similar to that used by the BBC’s Saturday Kitchen show as well as interviews with prominent chefs.

Twisted will also use the space to host events, supper clubs and workshops.

It comes as the online brand continues to grow its delivery only fast-food service Twisted London, which opened its first site in Bethnal Green in 2017.

Earlier this year Twisted expanded the operation, which is available exclusively via UberEats and claims to be ‘the world’s first delivery only restaurant born from social media’, to five more locations in the capital including Russell Square, Piccadilly and Edgware Road.

Since then Twisted has gone on to establish outposts in cities across the UK including in Glasgow, Southampton, Newcastle and Cardiff.

“Food is some of the most loved and dynamic content on the web,” says Market Halls co-founder and chief operating officer Simon Anderson on the opening of the studio.

“Twisted are market leaders in this arena, meaning this ground-breaking crossover between the digital and real worlds will provide a fascinating platform for content and consumer interactions.”

The full list of operators taking up residence in Market Halls’ new flagship food hall was confirmed earlier this month, and will feature a new Japanese concept from chef Angelo Sato, and a third site for Alex Peffly and Z He’s Chinese crépe brand Pleasant Lady.

The 35,000sq ft site will be housed in the former BHS building near Oxford Circus and will be the largest food hall in the country, according to the group.

Spread over three floors with seating for more than 900 covers, it will house 11 traders in total and four bars. There will also be a terrace with a retractable roof.

Twisted was founded in March 2016 as a Facebook page that produced and shared recipe videos.

It has since expanded across various social media platforms including Instagram and YouTube, and now has over 20-million followers worldwide.
