US burger and bar chain Wahlburgers looks set to overhaul its menu and introduce ‘concept changes’ at its London restaurant in Covent Garden, six months after opening.

Details of the changes will be revealed at a press conference due to be held this evening (17 December), hosted by Wahlburgers founder Paul Wahlberg and his brother Mark Wahlberg.

The pair will also announce a charity pledge from Wahlburgers to London-based food waste charity The Felix Project.

It comes a week after Wahlburgers was forced to refute claims it was preparing to put its flagship London site on the market.

Responding to the claim on Eater, the brand said: “Wahlburgers UK has no intention of closing our Covent Garden location, and continue to see it as our flagship restaurant in the region as we look at expanding throughout the UK and Europe.

“We are committed to this location, our British suppliers, staff and investors, and are currently in the midst of a menu relaunch and interior refurbishment, which we will make clear in the coming days.

“The person who reported our closing has no access to this type of information, and made this claim falsely and carelessly.”

Wahlburgers opened its debut UK site in Covent Garden back in May following more than six months of delays.

At the time it was reported that the chain was hoping to rapidly expand operations in the UK, with a view to opening 15 restaurants in five years across London and the wider UK.

Founded in Massachusetts back in 2011, Wahlburgers comprises more than 25 restaurants and food trucks across the US and Canada.
