The Caring Family Foundation has launched a campaign that will provide 80,000 meals to children that are in danger of going hungry this Christmas.

The foundation, founded by Caprice Holdings owner Richard Caring and his wife Patricia, will continue to feed children in need into 2021 with its ‘Food from the Heart’ campaign, which launches this month.

The campaign was born from the desire to play a role in alleviating what the foundation describes as ‘the disastrous impact’ that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on the existing growing problem of child food poverty across the UK.

It is partnering with hospitality charities FareShare and The Felix Project to feed children with a food delivery program that will have a sustainable impact. Meals will be delivered across the UK to children most in need of food, found through a nationwide conducted survey by FareShare, in areas including Birmingham, Brighton, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leicester, Liverpool and Southampton.

Chefs across the Caprice Holdings network have come together to create nutritious meals for children ,including cottage pie, vegetarian lasagne, and vegan macaroni & cheese.

"My husband and I feel incredibly passionate and proud to be launching the ‘Food from the Heart’ campaign,” says Patricia Caring.

“As a mother of three young children, it is so important that we are doing everything we can to help children who are going hungry and make a positive impact on some of the devastating statistics surrounding child poverty.

According to the foundation, 37% of children are living in poverty in London, however in 2019 only 16.9% of children attending nursery, primary and secondary state schools were known to be eligible to claim free school meals.

To tackle this issue in the capital, the Caring Family Foundation says it will work on localised projects monthly with The Felix Project.
