Steakhouse brand Bar + Block is bolstering its London estate with the opening of two new restaurants in the capital.

The Whitbread-owned brand will open its fifth and sixth London venues in the next two months, taking its total portfolio to 20 steakhouses nationwide.

The first will be Bar + Block Hammersmith, a 136-cover restaurant on Shepherds Bush Road that will open mid February, followed by Bar + Block Paddington, which will open on North Wharf Road in early March.

The lower ground restaurant will have 140 covers, including a 16-seater group dining table and 77-cover bar.

They will join London restaurants in King’s Cross, Aldgate, Wimbledon and Southwark.

“We are delighted to be starting 2022 with two new Bar + Block openings in London as we continue to grow and develop the brand nationwide,” says Rebecca Donaldson, commercial marketing director at Whitbread.

“With two key central locations close to transport hubs, we are confident our mix of steaks and accessible price point will appeal to locals as well as visitors to the city.”

The two new openings follow Bar + Block’s latest expansion in Scotland, which saw the opening of its second site in Edinburgh in December.

Whitbread says it plans to open a further four UK sites under its Bar + Block brand later this year.
