Minor calls in advisors amid cost management issues at The Wolseley Hospitality Group
Sky News reports that Minor, which acquired full control of the business, formerly Corbin & King, in April 2022 following a prolonged and very public battle for ownership with the group's co-founder Jeremy King, has brought in advisors from AlixPartners.
The project is said to be at an early stage and could lead to a range of outcomes, according to industry sources.
The Wolseley Hospitality Group’s London-based estate primarily consists of classically designed European-style cafés such as The Wolseley, Brasserie Zédel, Colbert, Bellanger and Fischer’s.
The group, which is now led by former Ivy Collection chief executive Baton Berisha, returned to the expansion trail last year with the opening of Manzi’s in Soho and The Wolseley City.
It is also understood to preparing to launch internationally with sites in the likes of Amsterdam, Hong Kong and Shanghai all previously mooted.
Regarding the group’s re-engagement with AlixPartners, a spokesperson for Minor told Sky News: “Minor Hotels works with a wide range of advisors, including AlixPartners, across our businesses on a variety of strategic matters.
“This collaborative approach is a common practice for companies looking to leverage external expertise for continuous business improvement.”
King, who was ousted from the group following Minor’s takeover, has since gone on to launch a new business called Jeremy King Restaurants.
The group made its debut earlier this year with the opening of Arlington on the former Le Caprice site in Mayfair and is set to launch its second venture, The Park, within the new Park Modern building near London’s Kensington Palace Gardens later this month.
