Highly-rated Indian restaurant The Chilli Pickle will leave MyHotel Brighton later this year amidst plans to relaunch in the seaside city.

The move is expected to take place following the summer trading period. A new site has yet to be identified, but founders Dawn and Alun Sperring say their intention is to remain in the city.

“We have loved our time with The Chilli Pickle being part of MyHotel Brighton in Jubilee Street. It has been a wonderful 14 years in the location and holds a lot of wonderful memories,” Dawn says.

“The site is fantastic, and we look forward to seeing who the new tenants will be. A move feels like a natural progression for us now and we are very excited about the future. I also want to assure all those that love The Chilli Pickle we are going nowhere! Brighton is an incredible city and we look forward to welcoming customers old and new to our ‘new house’ soon.”

Founded in Brighton’s The Lanes in 2008 as a 50-cover bistro, The Chilli Pickle moved to MyHotel in 2011.

The Sperrings were early proponents of the new-wave Indian genre, creating an experience that was, in many ways, the antithesis of the bog-standard curry house with a modern-yet-authentic menu that largely eschews obvious Anglo-Indian dishes.

The 115-cover venue is one of Brighton’s best-known restaurants and has appeared on Restaurant’s list of the top 100 places to eat in the UK.
