Itsu ups entry-level pay by 11%
Coming in tomorrow (17 September) for workers paid monthly and 1 October for those paid weekly, the raise will see around 1,000 existing employees paid a minimum of £10.40 an hour.
The increase - which is described by Itsu as ‘an attractive proposition for anyone wishing to launch their career with the organisation’ - applies to all company-owned restaurants but will be optional for franchise operators.
The rapidly expanding company - which now operates 72 sites in the UK - has also sought to highlighted its benefit package, which includes paid breaks, a free meal when working, 50% off Itsu at any time, 28 days of annual leave for full time workers and access to a 24/7 health and wellbeing support helpline.
“We are delighted to announce that we are leading the way in the hospitality industry, increasing wages for new and existing team members,” says the group's UK CEO Ganan Kanagathurai.
“This investment reinforces our commitment to the people that deliver the outstanding quality food and customer service levels we are renowned for in the market. An investment in our people is an investment in the business.”
“Our team members are the heart of our business and the face of our brand for our customers in-store,” says Itsu founder Julian Metcalfe.
“Itsu has always offered an incredibly attractive career path and this announcement will only increase the number of people that want to join our mission to deliver high quality, nutritious food at an affordable price.”
