Endo Kazutoshi opens Sumi in Notting Hill
Sushi master Endo Kazutoshi has launched a second London restaurant in Notting Hill.

Taking on the former Andina site on Westbourne Grove, Sumi is described as 'the casual yet elegant little sister' to Katzuoshi’s eponymous Michelin-starred counter restaurant in White City, Endo at the Rotunda.

Originally due to launch in mid December before lockdown restrictions forced a delay, the restaurant has now opened for click & collect and local delivery delivery until restrictions are lifted and the restaurant can open its doors for in-dining.

Named after Katzuoshi’s mother, Sumi's menu will be overseen by head chef Yasuda Akinori, previously of Zuma.

Dishes take inspiration and direction from Japanese traditions while also paying homage to the people and places that have inspired the Katzuoshi’s journey.

The bijou ‘at home’ menu is 'shaped by the seasons' and offers guests a choice of four boxes including a 'signature' Sumi box that features sashimi and sushi alongside robata grilled salmon, Akami tuna, Toro tuna, Japanese Hamachi yellowtail, Scottish scallops, sea bream and unagi eel.

A daily-changing Omakase box features a selection of fresh and cured fish including unagi and ikura; and the sashimi box includes three types of tuna, scallops, yellowtail, sea bass and salmon, served with caviar, rice, seaweed and wasabi.

There is also a plant-based vegan box available with vegetable roll, deep friend Agedashi tofu, seasonal mushroom rice, grilled vegetables and Kompu garden salad.
